Wellness Routines Part II: Benefits of Facials

Wellness Routines Part II: Benefits of Facials

As you may have read in our last blog post, we’re all about a wellness routine we can actually stick to. Last time, we wrote about the benefits of massage. Now, we’re explaining why facials and proper skin care should be a vital part of your wellness routine, too.

Aveda’s Latest: Old Wisdom Meets New Advances

Our current obsession is Aveda’s latest skin care debut: the groundbreaking Tulasāra line. It’s truly unlike anything else. If you didn’t know, much of Aveda’s philosophy, practices and products are derived from a holistic Indian medicinal practice known as Ayurveda. In the Tulasāra line, the old (Ayurvedic wisdom) meets the new (advanced science + proven results)—and the results are astonishing. Between the at-home skin care routine and the coordinating in-salon facial, you’ll experience seriously glowy skin in no time.

Meet The In-Salon Facial

What we love most about the new Tulasāra Facial Treatments are how customizable they are. Whether your skin is dry, oily, aging, uneven, sensitive or acneic, Tulasāra will work for you—because every facial is customized to fit your unique needs. During a thorough consultation, your therapist will assess your skin type and concerns to determine the proper products, aromas and techniques needed to move your skin toward balance.

Post-facial, your skin therapist will recommend a comprehensive treatment plan to help you achieve and maintain your desired results. And of course, any good professional skin care regimen includes effective daily care. Which brings us to our next point…

The Corresponding, At-Home Skin Care Routine

Don’t worry, the at-home ritual isn’t time-consuming or hard. In fact, we view it as a welcomed chance to step away from our phones and to-do lists.
First, you’ll use the brush to exfoliate and smooth your skin by gently rubbing the brush in circles around your face. This practice, known as dry brushing, helps release toxins and dead skin cells, stimulate your immune system and improve circulation.

Next, you massage Tulasāra Radiant Oleation Oil into your skin. The nourishing oil is designed to dissolve impurities, promote circulation, and restore skin’s radiance. The oil should be left on for four minutes before being rinsed off—we usually use this time to get in a few quick stretches or whip up a smoothie.

Finish with the Tulasāra concentrates. Available in Firm, Bright, and Calm, each concentrate is made from a naturally-derived blend of plant oils designed to meet a specific need. Pro tip: If you use more than one, apply the one with the thinnest consistency first. In fact, this is always a good rule of thumb to go by when it comes to applying skin care products. Top with moisturizer—and SPF for daytime—and you’re ready to go (and ready to glow).

We’re so excited about this new line, and we can’t wait to give you the official in-person introduction. As anyone who has done so can attest, the benefits of incorporating self-care rituals (like massages and facials) into your wellness routine are manifold—doing so will be a habit you won’t want to break.
