3 Halloween Beauty Ideas You Can Wear Anywhere

Is it just us or is getting decked out for Halloween becoming more difficult every year? Work, school, kids and general schedules can really put a damper on what was once the highlight of our fall season—it’s on a Wednesday this year for cryin’ out loud! So if you don’t see yourself wearing the neon wig and micro-tutu to work, here are a few casual but festive Halloween hair and makeup ideas that are fun yet totally appropriate for your grown-up schedule.

Hunger Games/Game of Thrones Braid

Want to channel the tenacious queens of Hollywood? Try an elaborate braid with lots of texture and details. Spritz dry hair with Aveda’s Texture Tonic and create a few fishtail or regular braids, cross them over each other, and either group it all together into a ponytail or leave it down. Pair it with an all-black outfit for a Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games look, or a simple blue or white dress for a quick Daenerys Targaryen Game of Thrones costume.

Cleopatra is the perfect costume to go from day to night—shiny, stick-straight hair, dramatic eyes and lots of gold jewelry. For her iconic straight hair, apply Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight to create a smooth foundation, and blow-dry straight with a paddle brush. When your hair is 70% dry, work in a small amount of Smooth Infusion Glossing Straightener to add shine and lock-in the style. Finish by using a flat iron for that extra straightness.

Create Cleopatra’s signature eyeshadow with Aveda’s Petal Essence Eye Color Trio in Aqua Pearl, which includes a gorgeous cool turquoise and warm yellow. Finish the look with a shimmery nude like Feed My Lips lipstick in Kimi Fig.
